A temporary power pole, also called a builders pole, supplies safe, metered power to a building site before permanent power is connected. It powers tools, site lighting and site sheds during construction.
A 1 phase pole is $950 + GST and a 3 phase pole is $1,190 + GST, each including the first 12 weeks of hire. After that, ongoing weekly hire is $45 + GST (1 phase) or $70 + GST (3 phase), invoiced at the end of the hire. See our range for full details.
1 phase suits most residential builds, renovations and extensions where trades are running standard 240V power tools, site lighting and a site shed. 3 phase suits larger builds and commercial sites running heavier equipment such as large welders, compressors or several site sheds. Your electrician can confirm the supply you need.
Every hire includes delivery and installation of a stay-less pole, no additional delivery or pick-up fees, and collection of the pole and removable footing at the end of the hire. The hire period only starts once Energex connects, so you don’t pay while you’re not connected. Processing the Energex paperwork is also covered in the fee, so there are no extra costs.
A stay-less pole stands on its own footing without guy wires (stays), so it takes up less room on site and is quicker to install and remove.

We service greater Brisbane, up to Caboolture, Ipswich, Beaudesert and the Gold Coast. Deliveries outside this range may incur an additional delivery fee.
Principal Poles completes the connection application and submits it to Energex. We keep you updated as Energex confirms the connection status.
We aim to have the pole connected within two weeks of installation. This depends on Energex completing the supply connection, and can be affected by storms or bad weather, traffic control and site access.
Hire only starts once Energex connects the power, so you are not paying for a pole that is not live.
Yes. Our site monitoring and time lapse cameras must be hired with a temporary overhead supply pole. The initial fee is $360 + GST and covers the first 12 weeks, then $30 + GST per week.
